LNMIIT OPTICA STUDENT CHAPTER

We are the Optica Student Chapter at The LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), Jaipur. The LNMIIT presently provides a range of optics and photonics programs. Detailed information regarding optics- and photonics related programs and research areas at LNMIIT is outlined below:

✦ Faculty & Research Areas: The Physics Department at LNMIIT clearly identifies optics and photonics as one of their research interests, in addition to cosmology, high-energy physics, material science, photovoltaics, biosensors, and nanotechnology.

✦ Silicon Photonics Research Group (SiPhRG), led by Dr. Harshvardhan Kumar:

• Their study domains encompass:

• Integrated photonics (from design to fabrication).

• Heterogeneous integration of Group-IV materials.

• Application in fiber-optic telecommunication and data communication.

• Photonic sensors (biologiocal, chemical, gas).

• Photonic devices operating in the NIR, MIR, and THz bands.

• Specific device categories: silicon-based modulators, photodetectors (e.g., avalanche photodiodes, single-photon avalanche diode), phototransistors, etc.

• Centre for Material Science and Nano Electronics

• Centre for VLSI and Embedded System Design

• Centre for Quantum Computing, Communication, Sensing and Security.
